Johan Wiren, St. Petersburg, a large, silver cased pocket chronometer with wind indicator, 15 jewels, key wind and set gilt full plate fusee movement with Earnshaw spring detent escapement, cut bimetallic balance, helical balance spring, and diamond endstone in a sterling silver, hinged back and bezel, consular open face case with London hallmark, and date letter for the year 1878, and Roman numeral, double sunk white enamel dial, blued steel spade and whip hands, serial #80, 59mm.
CONDITION:
CASE: Dome with minor dents; Minor scratches on outer surface of case; Dome with minor scratches and marks; Rear cover catch added; Precious metal content marked. DIAL: Hairlines in enamel and tiny surface flakes, 5:30- 6:00; Dial with abraded spot above center arbor, serial number removed. HANDS: Oxidation, minute. MOVEMENT PLATES: Minor scratches and pin pricks on plate; Mainspring set up click with scratches; Specks of dirt / dust. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Running order (winds, sets and ticks), would benefit from service.
